Carolina Tirado

Carolina Tirado has always been fascinated by the art of processes and bringing ideas to fruition. From delving into the intricate details behind them to witnessing productions come to life, she has been captivated by how things are done since a young age. Today, Tirado has transformed her passion into a career, working as a producer at one of Medellín's top production companies – Treinta&Seis

“During my time as a student, I was always intrigued by music and all the processes around it, including music production, music videos, and documentaries about bands and similar topics," Tirado said. "I believe I've always been intrigued by the processes behind the things we see, purchase, and so on.”

Tirado was first introduced to production when she was a student at the University of Medellín, studying audiovisual communication. She discovered her interest and aptitude for it when, alongside her team, they won an award for a project at the university. Allured by the world of music and the processes surrounding it, Tirado applied for an internship with Treinta&Seis and has been with the company ever since.

“When I started university, there weren't many instances where I acted as a producer.” She said. “However, there was a particular time when I had to take on that role because it was the only position available. We worked on a short film, and I served as the producer. Surprisingly, the short film also won an award at the university. I found it enjoyable, discovered my aptitude for it, and realized my genuine interest.”

Treinta&Seis

Established as “an international creative production company,” Treinta&Seis has become one of the leading production companies in Medellín and beyond creating top-of-the-line music videos, innovative commercials, and more recently dipping their toes into the film industry. The company has collaborated with a diverse range of artists, especially rising stars in the Latin-American music scene. Through their services, they’ve worked with a myriad of singers such as Anitta, Maluma, J. Balvin, Karol G, and more. Dedicated to ensuring that production runs seamlessly from start to finish, the company has created an impressive lineup of projects for all to enjoy.

"They were established during the rise of Reggaeton and Urban Music, a time when these genres were gaining recognition in Latin America and internationally," Tirado explained regarding her company. "Initially, they began by creating videos featuring artists who are now globally renowned, such as J. Balvin, Karol G, and Maluma. Their primary focus was on music, particularly music videos, but they have since diversified their portfolio to encompass various types of content."

Serving as a producer and assistant to the executive producer, Tirado provides support to both the CEO and executive producer, assisting them with various tasks. Whether it's creating mood boards, attending pitches, or closely managing everyday logistics, Tirado plays a crucial role in ensuring the production process runs smoothly and efficiently, both in the pre and post-production stages.

Post-production, Tirado is responsible for managing deadlines, scheduling meetings with editors, producers, and colorists, and handling all the other tasks that come in between. While her job has been nothing less than fulfilling, Tirado's favorite memory stems from her first overseas trip with the company.

"I think there's one specific project that I'm most proud of," Tirado said. "It's the first time I've traveled abroad for a project. I went to Mexico with the CEO and the director of the music video. Since the executive producer couldn't be part of the trip, I was in charge of logistics autonomously. I take pride in this experience because I successfully managed all aspects, despite being new and nervous. Everything went smoothly, and we were able to complete the filming and shooting without any hiccups."

Even though Tirado may have recently graduated, she has already made her mark in the production world, with her projects being seen across the globe. As she steps into the postgraduate world, Tirado is well-equipped and ready to face any challenges head-on. When it’s all said and done, for Tirado, seeing the end product is worth it and more rewarding than anything.

“I find it rewarding to witness the journey from the inception of an idea to its final realization,” Tirado said. “When you eventually deliver the project to a client, and they express their satisfaction, saying, ‘We’re done, thank you, we’re happy with the results.’ When everything proceeds smoothly, and you get to witness the creative process from point A to point B, it’s truly rewarding for me. Creative processes are something I’m genuinely interested in, so being a part of them is inherently rewarding.”

Through her diligence and passion for processes, Tirado is illuminating the El Poblado community and paving the way for aspiring producers to follow.
